A multidisciplinary community team supporting adults with autism and/or a learning disability who need mental-health support.
The Community Learning Disability and Autism team (CLDA) works with adults who have autism and/or a learning disability and need mental-health support — including those facing risky behaviours, trauma, anxiety, depression and other difficulties.
Clients can be referred by residential or supported-living services, GPs, psychiatrists and the NHS. We also accept self and family referrals.
The team includes a Positive Behaviour Support team led by an experienced behavioural practitioner, alongside qualified clinical and forensic psychologists, supported by PBS practitioners and assistant psychologists.
We provide assessment, formulation and intervention using a multidisciplinary model that draws on Positive Behaviour Support, psychology, occupational therapy and speech & language therapy. We also offer case management for complex cases and involve Experts by Experience to guide our communication and approach.
Specialist assessment and advice can include detailed assessments and reports for diagnoses such as ADHD and autism; communication needs (speech & language therapy); mental-capacity assessment; the therapeutic use of daily activities (occupational therapy); and psychological interventions including CBT, EMDR, DBT and mindfulness.
